Additional Fee & Package Information

Payments, Sales Taxes, Refunds, & Cancellations

Deposit & Balance

Upon booking, a $1,000.00, nonrefundable deposit is required to guarantee your hunt dates. Your total balance is due upon your harvest.

Accepted Payment Types

All fees must be paid in US dollars, cash, certified check, or money order. American Express, Visa, and MasterCard are each accepted with a 3.5% convenience fee.

Sales Taxes

Wisconsin sales tax is 5.5% on all hunts.

Refunds: Animal Retrieval

Once you make a shot, every effort will be made to retrieve your animal—all wounded animals are considered harvested, even if they are not found. No refunds provided. See our shooting standards to learn about antler restrictions and making an ethical kill.

Refunds: Deposits

Any deposits made to hold your hunting spot are nonrefundable. In the case of a cancellation, we will try to reschedule or will carry your deposit over to the following year. Hunters must let us know 30 days before your hunt if you need to reschedule or roll over your deposit.

Bringing Non-Hunters With You

You can add non-hunting guests to your total cost for $150.00/per person, per night. While you may share the lodge with other hunters, you and your non-hunting guest will be given a private room, with 2 beds.

Non-hunters are allowed to accompany you while you hunt, but not handle weapons.

Adding Extra Days

There are many reasons you may decide to add an extra day to your hunt package. If you are extremely discriminating, you might book an extra day to stalk a monster buck you spotted earlier. If you miss a shot or if you need to track down your harvest, extra days can be added.

Additional days for hunters cost $450.00/per extra night, per person. Additional days for non-hunters cost $150.00/per extra night, per person.

Some hunting packages do not allow for additional days since hunts must stay within season dates. In rare scenarios where you would need to add an additional day to locate your harvest, but days are not available, we will do our best to locate your animal for you after you leave.

Shared Lodge & Bedrooms

It’s not unusual for there to be multiple hunting parties in camp during your stay—we often book 6-8 hunters for each season. You’ll always have your own bed, but you may be sharing a room with another hunter. No matter how many hunters are staying at our lodge, you’ll have a secluded hunting spot that has been carefully chosen for you on our 620+ acres of land.

Shooting Standards

Our hunters have high standards and so do we. Monarch Valley Whitetails has a strong conviction for ethical kill shots and letting young, small bucks go. We expect all our guests to hunt with the same conviction and we hold all our hunters to the standards below. All hunters will have the full support of guides to ensure standards are met.

Antler Restrictions

Our record book trophies are due to an investment in high-quality deer and restricting hunting to mature, large-bodied bucks. Hunters have guides to ensure only bucks 160″ B&C or greater are shot.

Ethical, Immediate Kill Shots

Hunters are required to move into a position that will allow for a precise, immediate kill shot to avoid wounding animals. Hunters do not shoot at running deer or deer beyond their shooting capability.

Weapon Proficiency

A prerequisite to all our hunts is proficiency in your weapon of choice. Upon arrival, we will do a skills assessment to ensure your hunting spot is appropriate for your weapon and ability.

Additional Field Skills

Hunters will be expected to have patience—mature whitetail bucks are elusive, seclusive, and mostly nocturnal. The first and last hour of daylight will give you the greatest opportunities for success. Awareness of your own sound and scent and the ability to read the sounds and activity of bucks will only increase your success rate.

Before taking a shot, hunters need to allow sufficient time to judge their shot, their positioning, and the type of buck they’re shooting at. This is to avoid ground-shrinkage and ensure you stay within antler size restrictions.
